KNIT

Knit fabric is a single-yarn fiber that has been knitted (looped) together to create a finished textile.  Depending on the fiber content, the fiber weight, and the knitting style, the end fabric can become anything from the softest, thinnest jersey, to the bulkiest heavy fleece.  Common natural fibers to create knit fabric are cotton, rayon/viscose, bamboo, tencel (lyocell), modal, and wool.  Synthetic fibers like nylon and polyester can also be used, and many fabrics are a blend of multiple fibers.  Knit fabric also frequently has spandex/lycra blended to enhance the textile’s ability to stretch and recover.
