WOVEN

Woven fabric is multi-yarn fibers that have been interlaced together at right angles (often on a loom) to create a finished textile.  Depending on the fiber content and the fiber weight, the end fabric can become anything from the softest, thinnest silk chiffon, to the bulkiest heavy denim.  Common natural fibers to create woven fabric are cotton, rayon/viscose, bamboo, tencel (lyocell), modal, silk, linen, hemp, and wool.  Synthetic fibers like nylon and polyester can also be used, and many fabrics are a blend of multiple fibers.  Woven fabric has no cross-grain stretch unless spandex/lycra has been blended with the fibers to enhance the textile’s ability to stretch and recover.
